Lilly Jean has almost made through one entire year of life! I'm having major dejavu this week since we got a major snow storm here a few days ago and it was EXACTLY this time last year that we had a big snow and I was out pulling Reaghan around on the sled 9 months pregnant! All the facebook and google photo memories have been popping up and making me all sentimental about being pregnant and how fast this year has gone!
We just sent out Lilly's birthday invitations today and we are planning a Winter ONEderland family party for the first weekend in February. But let's not jump the gun, I'm only going to write one more of these posts where I stop to appreciate every little new thing she's learned to do, so here it goes!
Size
Still in size 3 diapers. Anyone else feel like babies can wear this size forever?! Wearing 12-18 month clothes and a few 18 month rompers. They are still a little long for her though.
Health
She just got her first top tooth! It's barely poking through but its there. She had another cold this past month. We have been so sick this winter with colds! I washed all the sheets, sanitized all the toys and got new tooth brushes. I did all these things last time we were sick too but hopefully this time we'll be done for good!
Feeding
Still does great with her pureed veggies and fruits but eating more and more solids all the time. New foods this month was hamburger meat, steamed pieces of broccoli and cauliflower, tater tots, Christmas ham. She loves yogurt melts and little teething cookies and cheerios. Graham crackers are still her fave. She loves to eat eggs, waffles, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, muffins. Basically anything.
Sleeping
She's been going to bed a little earlier these days, usually ready for bed between 7:30-8 but sometimes even as early as 7:00. Reaghan was and still is a little night owl, but Lilly Jean needs early bed times! Unfortunately this means she's a little bit of an early riser. Like 5:30-6am! Yikes! I actually can't complain because she'll usually fall back asleep for a while but then it throws off her getting a morning nap. So she'll usually power through from 9am to 1:30 when she goes down for an afternoon nap. Still takes really great 2+ hour naps in the afternoon.
Likes
She likes to clap when we say "yay!" and raise her hands when we sing "how big is Lilly?" She likes to play with balls and is learning how to roll a ball back and forth. She likes to give her baby dolls kisses. She got little wooden blocks for Christmas that she likes to play with. Love bath time with sissy. Loves to get into Sissy's kitchen set, baby dolls and doll house. She's very interested in touching peoples noses and mouths and learning the words for those things. She loves to open and shut doors and play peek-a-boo. She likes to "clean her tray" with a wipe after she eats.
Dislikes
When mommy gets too excited and makes loud noises while playing with big sissy. I guess it scares her? haha She screams if she thinks we aren't feeding her fast enough. We're trying to work on that! She still refuses to do any sign language! I can't figure it out! haha She has a hard time making it through a church service because she likes to babble and squirm. She even has to make babbles while she eats snacks. lol
She is semi walking! She can take 5-6 steps before she loses her balance. She prefers to crawl because its faster. She can say "hi" and has started repeating words when asked too like mama and dada and nin nin. {Aunt Erin} She learned how to climb the stairs. {mama's anxiety levels have been waayyy up this month as I've caught her halfway up the stairs more than I'd like to admit.} She's learning to follow simple commands like come here and sit still and "mama have it". Even though she doesn't like to sit still.
Sibling Love
This past month I've noticed the girls actually start to play together, instead of Reaghan just tolerating Lilly grabbing for all of her toys she'll try to include Lilly in her play and tell her what to do. Lilly has started mimicking what Reaghan does... they both got baby dolls for the bath for Christmas with washcloths and Lilly will try to wash her baby with the wash cloth like Reaghan does.
Special Events/Outings
She celebrated her first Christmas! She loved opening all the presents, but mostly the presents she wasn't supposed to open. The ones we gave her to open were somehow less interesting to her. She celebrated her first New Years and stayed up really late for her but didn't make it til midnight ;) She experienced her first snow... she wasn't overly impressed but she did like watching big sissy play in it.
Time to slow down this month and enjoy Lilly's last month of babyhood before she graduated to full on toddler. She's well on her way!
